About Me Joe X. Cantu MA MFT - Psychotherapy West Los Angeles and Torrance, CA I received Master of Arts in Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, California and am an active member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I received a BFA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. In addition, I studied at L’Universita’ per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy. After receiving my degree in Psychology, I was accepted into the clinical training program at The Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills. While there, I received intensive training in psychodynamic theory and practice working with individuals, couples and groups. While the training at Maple was dedicated to this particular modality, I currently utilize an eclectic approach in my private practice. I am a strong believer in using whatever approach is appropriate at any particular moment for each individual client. I have two offices, one in West Los Angeles, California and the other in Torrance, California. My specialty is couples and individuals.
